Biography

Jörgen Tellqvist is a top national and international competitor, trainer/coach and has been member of the Swedish National Team at the FCI World Championship since 1999.

He is one of Sweden's most popular agility & herding instructors with focus on solid handling fundamentals and positive training techniques. Jörgen operates in Falkenberg HU Training Center in southern Sweden and holds worldwide lectures, seminars and camps upon request.

In 1995 Jörgen became involved in agility, when he began training/competing with his parent's Border Collie, Ricky. With this dog, he qualified and competed for the Swedish National Team from 1999-2000, at which time Jörgen was forced to withdraw Ricky from any kind of agility activities due to a serious accident with a moose.

Jörgen brings an extensive background in competitive sports, physiology, performance analysis and sports psychology to agility. In his twenties, Jörgen was a successful professional football and ice hockey player and has a vast background in elite sports. Among Jörgen's many capacities is his ability to adjust his instructions/teaching method in accordance with the participant's ability and attitude as well as his ability for analysis of agility performances (on-site and/or from video recordings).

In 1998, Jörgen got his second Border Collie, Asphagens Don. He started herding and it wasn't until Don was 3 years old, that he began the agility training and competing. During his work with the sheep, Don incurred a major injury which coupled with a snakebite, forced Jörgen to let Don lay low during the period from fall 2001 until early summer 2002. In spite of this 8 month set-back, Jörgen and Don qualified and competed for the Swedish National Team at the FCI World Championship 2002 as well as at the Nordic Championship 2002.

At the age of 6, the culmination of Don's career - so far - came in 2003, where Jörgen and Don won both the Swedish Championship as well as the Nordic Championship. For 2004, Jörgen will try to extend his wins by becoming a gold winner at the FCI World Championship 2004.

During spring 2004, Jörgen's next agility dog has been born - a male puppy after Don.
